Baldivis Library & Community Centre

Our Commercial & Infrastructure team has been invited to provide the structural designs for the $11.5 million jointly funded project that is set to change the face of the suburb of Baldivis. Working alongside the client Site Architecture Studio, this original and contemporary piece of architecture, which is in an advanced stage of construction, will act as a hub for the local community and will provide the town with a visually appealing focal point.

Located on Settlers Avenue in Baldivis, the centre will be equipped with meeting rooms, a modern state of the art library, a children’s and parent’s meeting area, gaming station, computer training rooms as well as two media centres with leading-edge technology. The outside reading courtyard will act as a meditative space, allowing users to lose themselves in their surroundings. The local environment has inspired the aesthetics of the building, with the architect’s vision for it to seamlessly integrate with nature. Not only will this structure benefit the community and those living in the city of Rockingham, it will also attract visitors from further afield.

Site Architecture Studio who invited our Commercial Team to supply all structural engineering won the project that is being jointly funded by Local Government, Lottery West and Stockland. Our Geotechnical Team has also had involvement, supplying piling designs and site investigations alongside soil testing and analysis. The budget and parameters of the project has provided our team with a challenging task and has given them the chance to showcase capabilities in supplying designs that reduce construction costs.

“This project has been a very interesting and exciting one for our team”, said our Senior Engineer, Miceal Concannon, who is leading the project. “The challenge of working on such an architecturally unique design has given us the opportunity to showcase our capabilities. This is a building that will mean a lot to the local community and it has been very rewarding to be part of the team making it happen”.

Pact Construction is the chosen builder and the project is set for completion in April 2014.
