Our team was commissioned to work on the Brisbane Airlink M7 tunnel project, which formed a major part of Australia’s $4.8 Billion investment in new transportation infrastructure, the largest project of its kind to date. The tunnel’s size is unparalleled throughout Australia hosting 135,000 vehicles per day and encompassing 15km of tunnelling.

The installation of the tunnel sheet membrane and reinforcement over the entire passageway required innovative, mobile scaffolding solutions that could be used throughout the duration of construction. Our scope of work included the design and certification, including structural compliance inspections, of the mobile gantry scaffolding.
We designed three versions of this gantry scaffold with various dimensions suitable for the different stages of the tunnel project. Wheel bogies supporting the platforms travelled on rail to enable movement of the entire scaffold platform through the length of the tunnel as construction progressed.
