Structerre coordinated the design with the architect to optimise the structure for the cold-formed steel framing construction style. We provided the design of all steel framing including columns, beams, girder trusses, and cold-formed steel for the wall frames and roof trusses of the three buildings. The cold-formed steel framing was regarded as part of the overall building structure, which allowed a significant reduction in hot-rolled structural steel. This in turn allowed a greater degree of prefabrication of building components and quicker construction times than traditional portal frame structures. All frames and trusses arrived on site pre-assembled facilitating rapid erection and fitting.
Our team flew to the mine site three times to provide compliance construction inspections and on site advice. Strong communication with our client, coupled with our skills and experience working with cold-formed steel structures, allowed us to achieve the main brief of reducing the volume of steel across the three buildings.
