Our brief was to work together with Landscape Architects, Blackwell & Associates, to develop iconic structures, including a viewing platform and extensive shade canopy that would turn the previously undeveloped breakwater into a prominent and attractive social hub for the community.
Working with geotechnical engineers, we designed a cantilevering viewing platform with masts extending over 16m in an exposed area notorious for high winds and in poor founding materials. A large shade structure, horseshoe shaped in plan, was also designed and utilized varying height steel tube sections cantilevering up to 16m in height.
We were responsible for the design and certification of all landscaping structural elements and worked alongside Blackwell & Associates to develop a coating system appropriate to the harsh marine conditions.
