Forestway Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Market

Our client was concerned at the increased volume of fresh food they needed to deliver from the market to locals. In order for Forestway Fresh to cater for the levels of fresh produce, the opportunity to expand their operating space arose. Our team was commissioned to design more than 1000 m2 of additional floor area and provide structural design services for pier foundation and underpinning solutions for the existing foundations. Part of the expansion was to install a cool room and a new loading bay for which our engineers provided structural designs, alongside details for the suspended concrete slab and slab on grade to be fitted.

Due to the nature of the retail outlet, utilizing the floor space to its full capacity was important for our client. We provided effective designs for a hanging steel mezzanine floor and steel roof with minimal columns throughout to avoid sacrificing any of the precious commercial space. The steel roof for the new development is carried on steel trusses, which will later carry the load of the existing roof along with the new structure.
